It seems apparent that my final weeks in NYC will be full of opportunities to collaborate. On one hand I am feeling a little bit anxious, allowing my ego to read these experiences as proof of my diminishing creative abilities and that my inclusion into a graduate program is a fluke. While on the other (stronger) hand, I get the sense that working closely with others is exactly what I should be focusing on- as a boon to my individual practice.
That being said, I am about embark on a wonderful journey in which I will be collaborating with Fiona Gardner as means to discuss the nuanced relationship between Jews and Blacks. Inspired by the upcoming exhibition CROWN HEIGHTS GOLD (curated by Dexter Wimberly), we will utilize our respective perspectives as art material to examine race relations and healing in Crown Heights, in the 20 years since the riot of 1991.
